Toute La Gagne

Today we went to Acorn Farm for a field trip. We learned so much about growing produce by seeing, listening and sampling too! Yummy. We all had a great trip. At the end of the tour all the kids got to hunt for a pumpkin and we had a piece of Farmer Andy's pumpkin loaf hot from the microwave.

Farmer Andy

Here is Farmer Andy cutting some brussel sprouts for us to sample. Here I always thought I had to melt cheese over these "bitter" vegetables to get them to taste good. Fresh is better not bitter!

Colourful Cauliflower

Farmer Andy is showing us the orange and red cauliflower that he grows. It tastes the same but adds colour to your plate.

Veggie Loot Bag

At the end of the tour we took our loot bag of veggies home to show off. It was a lovely visit to the farm and a great time was had by all. Never before had I seen so many children happy to eat vegetables. I guess fresh from the farm is the secret!

One Big Happy Family

It's been around 15 years since we have been all together at one time. We've come from all over North America. It was nice that everyone made the effort to come.

My Big Brothers

Aren't they a handsome lot?

The Girls

These are my older sisters. I'm the baby of the family but not the smallest. My oldest sister is the shortest, go figure.

The Birthday Girl!

Happy 90th Birthday

Today, Oct 25th, marks my mother's 90th birthday. We celebrated in style at my mom's new place. It was so nice to see family that we haven't seen in awhile. Andrew and Christine made the banner. They did a great job!

A Girl Playing Football??

Lots of my friends and family think it's weird, but I think it's simply awesome. You may say that football is a boys sport, but I think that anyone could play. It all started when I was at my brother's football practice and my Dad and I decided to go for a walk around the field. While we were walking we bumped into my brother's former coach. He asked me why I wasn't on the cheer leading team. I answered, "I'm not the cheerleader type". Then he said, "Why don't you join the football team?" I said, "No way!" Afterwards, he convinced me to try it out. So, the rest is history. I'm glad I did, even when my team mates tease me (not mentioning any names). If you are a girl and if you want to play...just go for it! You won't regret it!

Mud Monster Coach

Coach Bob promised if the Knights got a touchdown, he'd throw himself into the mud. Now he knows what it feels like to be cold and wet.

Knights Touchdown

What a beautiful play! See for yourself. Just in case you cant see. That was a touchdown. Go knights woohoo.

Highlights of the Carp Fair

We walked and we walked and then we walked some more. It was a great day. Here is a couple of the things we saw:

Pretty silly looking vegetables, heh?

My feet were killing me by the end of the day, so I decided to take a rest. I remember the long route marches we took at basic training in Chilliwack - they told us to put our feet up so that the blood would drain and prevent swelling. I don't know if it really works, but it sure feels good.

The Downsized Mounties

What is this world coming to. Now we can't even depend on the Canadian Mounties to protect us.

Mud Pies

Did you know that the Kanata Knights practice rain or shine. This is what it looks like when it's raining. I have put their uniforms through the wash twice and the second time was with bleach. I just wonder if the mud stains will come off. If not...it's ok, because I can always blame it on coach Gord.

The competition

This year the NCFA decided to waive the weight restrictions. By doing so, any kid within the age of 7 - 10 can play football at the Tyke division. This player, #45, Andrew had to face in a recent game. I hate to see this kid at age 14.

Hello, it's Andrew. The picture on the right is of the tyke Knights Defence lining up(in blue). I am number 48 lining up in a aggressive stance. Unfortunately we lost against the wolverines 6-18.But we amazingly have the 3RD best Defence in the League. If you live in the Kanata area I suggest you join the knights. Its a EXTREMELY good way to have fun running laps and doing up-downs and push ups. You also make tonnes of good memory's and friends. http://www.kanataknightsfootball.com isthe official web site.
One of the bad things is the fourth quarter. It is the hardest part of practice. We usually do a play then a lap then a play then a lap and so on. Sometimes its actually fun though like when we play Borden ball(a less complicated form of football). Other times we play British bulldog except we tackle instead of touching each other. Sometimes we're lucky and we don't have fourth quarter!!!!!!! But there's always those times where we have to do the ladder AAAAHHHHHH!!!! I'll explain what the ladder is. Okay the first player goes and drops to the ground then the next person jumps over him and then drops to the ground and so on. After the last person drops to the ground the person at the end of the ladder gets up and goes to the front of the line and so on till we have crossed the field. During that period of time we usually fall on top of each other over and over again.
